About me.
My career in childcare started at a young age, being the oldest of three I was eager to watch my two younger siblings whenever my parents would allow. I also have many younger cousins that I watched growing up, whenever my aunts and uncles needed a hand I was there waiting to help. The moment I was old enough I took the baby sitting course at school and started canvasing the neighbours offering to babysit. Even when the parents of the younger kids on the street were home you could still find me outside with all the younger children at my heels. I always enjoyed helping them all, teaching them new things, creating new and exciting games and activities and entertaining them. Caring for and helping children has always been my number one passion for as long as I can remember.
In high-school I enrolled in the co-operative education program, spending semesters studying and volunteering in nursery schools, and then later a special needs classroom at my high school. My co-op placements often turned into employment opportunities, and I was asked on more than one occasion to return in a paid position to work summers, as well as winter and march break in the nursery school I had done my placement at.
After high-school I worked a few jobs outside of the childcare field, while often also working as a part-time nanny, or babysitter on the side until eventually settling down and starting a family of my own. After welcoming our first daughter I was overwhelmed with trying to find a care provider for her and that led me once again working with children. I worked a while as a private nanny bringing my daughter along with me to work until finally deciding that providing childcare from home was what I wanted to do. I started my first childcare from home business when my oldest daughter was a year old and have continued ever since. Here we are now 7 years later, we have welcomed a second daughter to our family and relocated, and this summer added a son to the mix. But all while I have thankfully been able to continue with the job I love.
(I have a clean police record that I can provide as well as many positive references from parents of children whom I have cared for in the past)
